Mr. Zar is an experienced Medical Device and Software Inventor and Technologist. He has more than 25 years of experience developing medical devices from conception through regulatory approvals and into the market.
Mr. Zar is experienced in hardware and software architectures, cloud computing, API design, security, AI/ML, image processing, real-time computing, embedded systems, and other related technologies in modern-day hardware and software systems. He thinks practically, being directly involved in engineering design and strategically in his various CTO roles over more than ten years. In addition, he has experience working within regulatory structures to produce SOPs, FDA and CE regulatory filings and inspections, ISO compliance, and FCC testing.
He has also written and managed numerous projects funded through government grants (DARPA and NSF), and has experience with STTR and SBIR programs. He has further experience working with companies to obtain seed and venture capital funding.
Mr. Zar began his journey as a Research Associate, teaching and participating in numerous academic research projects at Washington University in St. Louis. During that time, he was involved in several technical transfer programs. He also co-founded several companies, including a medical device consulting firm and a medical device startup, to commercialize smartphone-based ultrasound. In 2011, this device was the first smartphone-based medical device to receive a 510(k) clearance from the FDA.
He is a patent holder in medical software design, security, and integrated circuit design.
Mr. Zar earned an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis.
